What has this event taught me, you ask? Well for one, don't fall down the stairs. And two, I'm one lucky gal. Alright, so maybe I already knew that but this was a nice little reminder. ;) Dan has been taking the best care of me and I appreciate him so much. Not only has he been waiting on me hand and foot but he's been cooking me breakfast/lunch/&dinner, doing laundry, cleaning, washing dishes and calling to check up on me. All the while, working. Where did this man come from? Oh yes, Montana. I swear, there is just something really special about these country boys! ;) Number three, it's o.k to laugh at yourself even when it hurts or when you're embarrassed. Turning an awful situation into a not-so-awful situation is tough work but at the end of the day, I'd much rather be the lunatic laughing in the E.R.

and then she tumbled...
So for those of you who haven't heard, I sprained my ankle. Pretty badly. It's a total bummer. The way in which it happened is pretty silly and further emphasizes the extent of my clumsy behavior. I fell down the stairs. Yes. It's true. I really did that. Who does that? Well, me. I do that, apparently. In my defense I had the flu and the combination of flu medicine and slippery wooden steps made for a disastrous duo. After I fell, I screamed and Dan came a runnin' and immediately assessed the situation. He made sure I was o.k, looked at my foot, got ice and found the nearest hospital to our home. He carried me to the car and told me to keep ice on my foot the whole way. I listened. We got to the hospital and he carried me into the E.R calling for a wheel chair. Once I was safely seated and checked in, the pain soon turned to laughter. Here we are, cracking up laughing in the waiting room of a hospital, people starring at us as if we were a pair of lunatics. The nurse called my name and I went into the back room where she checked my vitals. When asked what happened, I let out a laugh and responded, "Well, I fell (giggle) down (giggle) the stairs (giggle.)" I tend to laugh and make jokes when a.) I'm uncomfortable and b.) I'm in pain. Goodness gracious, what's wrong with me? After a few x-rays, an ankle brace and a quick lesson on crutches we were done at the E.R and on our way home. We stopped at a delicious local Mexican spot and grabbed some grub to go. I'm pretty sure I found my new tamale hub. What can I say? Me gusta tamales! :)

and i'm back...
After a whole year of being m.i.a from the world of blogging, I'm back. About a month ago, after a night on the town with my husband at one of our favorite places in West Seattle, we both came to the conclusion that it's something I need to get back into. So here I am. Back. And ready to rumble. :) So where on Earth do I start!? How can I possibly catch up on an entire year!? To make a very long story short... here are a few highlights that have happened over the past year: 1.) Dan finished up his degree at Northern Arizona University 2.) We celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary 3.) Took a trip to Hawaii 4.) Started new jobs 5.) We moved to SEATTLE, WA!!! Yes. We moved. To a whole new place. And so far we really love it here. This truly is, an inspiring city. A few things that I've learned in the short period of time we've lived here. 1.) Seattle is full of what everyone here calls "foodies." I LOVE THIS! As a fellow foodie myself, I feel like I fit right in! So what is a foodie you ask? Well, a foodie is someone who is obsessed with cooking, baking, recipes and eating delicious food with wonderful friends! 2.) Everyone here is out-doorsy. (Partially to make up for being a foodie, I think ;) ) This is Seattle trait number 2 that I LOVE! My husband and I are big out-doorsy people. We love to hike, camp, rock climb, build bonfires, you name it and we're down. There are so many places to explore here in Washington I can't help but feel a bit overwhelmed at times. 3.) There is a TON of art and music in this city. And if you're not an artist/musician you are an enthusiast and support the cause. 4.) GREEN! Seattle is green in two ways. The first being the most obvious. It is in fact a lush, beautiful place where lilies grow like weeds and trees reach unthinkable heights. The second is that everyone here is environmentally aware. There are recycle bins on every corner, in every restaurant and in every parking garage. 5.) Seattle has the nicest drivers. I'm dead serious. I turn on my blinker and people slow down to let me over. People respect the bike lanes and everyone slows down for pedestrians without getting snarky. It's insane. After years of living in Nevada and Arizona where drivers speed up as soon as you turn on your blinker, this feels like a dream. There is just something about the flow of this city that I love and I can't get enough of. I feel very lucky to be able to call myself a Seattle resident ;) Here are some pictures from my iphone to help illustrate what we've been up to. Caution, there are A LOT. But hey, it's been a while, right? ;)
